ALGIERS-The State has allocated a financial envelope of more than 12 billion dinars for the purchase of anti-Covid-19 vaccines, according to a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette no.30.

This is Presidential Decree No. 21-143, signed on April 15 by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, transferring funds to the operating budget of the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform.

By virtue of this text, “a credit of 12,737,461,000 dinars is opened over 2021, applicable to the operating budget of the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform and to Chapter 44-07: Exceptional contribution at the Pasteur Institute of Algeria (IPA) for the purchase on behalf of the State of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine “.

Indeed, Algeria began its vaccination campaign at the end of January following receipt of the first batch of the Sputnik-V vaccine.

Other quantities were received, in February and March, of this Russian vaccine, the British AstraZeneca and Chinese Sinopharm ones.

The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid had affirmed that the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 “will accelerate” in April, with the reception of 920,000 doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine.
