Algerian Red Crescent/ Solidarity action: 70 tonnes of dates intended for Sahrawi refugee camps

ALGIERS- 70 tonnes of dates was loaded, on Wednesday, aboard two military planes at the Boufarik air base (Blida) of the 1st Military Region, for the benefit of the Sahrawi refugee camps, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, as part of the series of the humanitarian aid operations intended for this brotherly people.

ALGIERS- 70 tonnes of dates was loaded, on Wednesday, aboard two military planes at the Boufarik air base (Blida) of the 1st Military Region, for the benefit of the Sahrawi refugee camps, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, as part of the series of the humanitarian aid operations intended for this brotherly people.

This solidarity operation was supervised by the president of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA), Saida Benhabiles, and the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Oumar, who expressed, on the occasion, his “gratitude” to Algerian people and army, for their permanent support and solidarity with the Saharawi people”.

Benhabiles, for her part, underlined that this volume of aid (70 tonnes of dates) intended for the Saharawi people, on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, represents a “first batch of a set of aids intended for this brotherly people, with a view to covering all of their needs during this month, adding that “we should show solidarity with the Sahrawi people in face of the “deprivations they endure, particularly in this holy month”.

To this end, the president of the Crescent reiterated, on this occasion, her “thanks and gratitude to the People’s National Army (ANP) which responds to the calls of the Algerian Red Crescent and contributes strongly to the success of the various solidarity operations”.
