ALGIERS- The Algerian anti-Covid 19 vaccine will be available by next September, assured, on Wednesday in Algiers, Lotfi Benbahmed, Minister of the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Guest of channel 3 of Algerian radio on Wednesday morning, the Minister underlined that the Algerian anti-Covid 19 vaccine, emanating from a partnership with the Russian operator “Sputnik”, will be available by next September, to ensure its availability for the benefit of the national population.
“According to the public pharmaceutical group Saidal, the experts and the various analyzes put in place, the Sputnik vaccine will be ready next September”, he indicated, specifying that “we are supported by the Russian fund and laboratories that already manufacture Sputnik vaccine in other countries ”.
Noting that Sputnik V anti-Covid-19 vaccine will be manufactured in a factory in Constantine, as declared by Dr. Bekkat Berkani, member of the Ministry of Health’s monitoring committee for the Coronavirus epidemic.
Bekkat stressed that Algeria has the capacities and skills necessary to manufacture this vaccine which will allow 60 to 70% of the population to be vaccinated for collective (herd) immunity.
