ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent a congratulatory message to the national football team following the emphatic home 5-0 win over Botswana, extending their unbeaten run to 24 games.
To this end, President Tebboune praised the work done by Coach Djamel Belmadi since his arrival at the helm of the team in 2018.
“Thank you to our national team for this distinguished journey in qualifying for the African Cup,” said the President, before adding: ” Thank you for the remarkable achievement of 24 consecutive games without defeat under the direction of the talented coach Djamal Belmadi.”
“I wish you all success in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. We support you, ” concluded the President on his official Twitter account.
Reigning African champions Algeria extended their unbeaten run to 24 games, as they finished their Group H campaign of the Total Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with an emphatic home 5-0 win over Botswana.
Les Fennecs concluded the qualifiers the same way they opened it, having beaten Zambia with the same result in the opening matchday. They dominated the whole 90 minutes against Botswana, already eliminated before the game.
Algeria finished Group H with on top with 14 points, ahead of qualified Zimbabwe (8), Zambia (7) and Botswana (4).
