June 12th Algerian legislative elections: More than 39 parties, 25 independents withdraw candidacy files

ALGIERS- The operation of the exceptional revision of the electoral lists in anticipation of the June 12th Algerian Legislative elections, called by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will wrap up today, Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021.

An operation that lasted eight days with the aim to update the electoral rolls across the national territory.

Previously, let us recall, the Independent National Election Authority (ANIE) through the voice of its Chairman Mohamed Charfi had invited citizens not registered on the electoral rolls, in particular those aged 18 on polling day, to register at the level of the municipal commission for the revision of electoral lists in the municipality of their residence, placed under the authority of ANIE .

In addition, voters who have changed their place of residence must approach the electoral lists revision commission at their new residence for their re-registration. To this end, the registration request should be supported by the presentation of two documents, one justifying the identity and the other justifying the residence.

Noting that citizens are free to register on the electronic platform of the Commission :

(HTTPS://services.ina.elections.dz/register), the ANIE underlined that the offices of the municipal commission are open from 9 a.m. morning at 4.30 p.m., except on Fridays.

With regard to citizens residing abroad, they should approach the electoral roll revision commissions “at the level of diplomatic or consular representations for their registration in accordance with the same procedures.

As long as the withdrawal of application forms is concerned, Mohamed Charfi said, Sunday, that nearly 700 candidacy files were withdrawn from the services concerned.

As a reminder, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Thursday, March 11th, 2021, sealed the presidential decree convening the electorate on 12 June 2021 to elect the members of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), according to a communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Republic.

“In accordance with Article 151, paragraph 02, of the Constitution, the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune sealed on 27 Rajab 1442, corresponding to March 11, 2021, Presidential Decree No.96-01 convening the electorate for the parliamentary legislative elections scheduled for 12 June 2021,” said the same source.

President Tebboune “also signed on 26 Rajab 1442, corresponding to March 11, 2021 Ordinance No.21-01 on the electoral system,” concluded the same statement.
