The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid referred to the possible side effects that the vaccine against the Coronavirus may cause.
Talking during a session held at the Upper House of Parliament (the Council of the Nation) devoted to senators’ oral questions, the minister reassured Algerians about the vaccination against the Coronavirus.
As for the side effects that the vaccination could cause, he explained that several other vaccines have side effects such as; fever and diarrhea, which does not represent any danger to the health of the vaccine recipient.
The case of patients with allergies:
Regarding the vaccination campaign for people with allergies, Prof. Benbouzid said that this category should receive vaccination against Covid-19 in large health structures.
This category of patients should receive the dose first to make sure their bodies respond to the vaccine. Then, they will be kept under medical care in the same facility to avoid any complications.
The objective is to vaccinate 20 million Algerians during the current year:
In another aspect, the Head of the Health sector assured that the objective mapped out by Algeria is to vaccinate 20 million citizens during the current year, to reach the 70% of vaccination rate with a view to achieving herd immunity and returing to normal life.
To meet the set target, an official at the Ministry of Health said that the Covax program will supply 12 to 16 million doses, and the African Union 8 million doses, while the remaining 20 million doses will have to be acquired from the various leboratories.
