ALGIERS – Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abderrahmane Benbouzid said that Algeria would receive, in late February, 200, 000 doses of the Chinese vaccine, in addition to approximately 800.000 doses under the COVAX system.
“Algeria will receive, in late February, 200,000 doses of the Chinese vaccine and between 700 000 and 800 000 doses under the COVAX system,” the minister announced during a parliamentary conference on “coronavirus pandemic in Algeria and et the vaccination strategy,” organized Tuesday in Algiers by the Upper House’s Commission of Health, Social Affairs, Labour and National Solidarity, chaired by Acting chairman Salah Goudjil.
The minister also announced the arrival in the future of “further quantities of the vaccine.”
Affirming that President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune had fulfilled his commitment on vaccine purchase in January, Benbouzid called on all the citizens to get vaccinated to allow return to normal life.”
Moreover, the Health minister called upon media and all the social partners to “cooperate with the health authorities to organize large-scale awareness campaigns about the importance of vaccination.
By April, Algeria will receive 9 million vaccine doses under the AU’s Institute for Pandemic Prevention, has announced the health ministry’s manager for pharmacy and medical equipments Wahiba Hadjoudj.
