The President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated, on Thursday, the National Day of Iran, hoping that mutual cooperation would be further developed between the two countries in various areas.
As such, President Tebboune offered his sincerest congratulations to President Hassan Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution.
In this vein, the President expressed hope to see the development of relations in all bilateral, regional, and international aspects, based on the historical background and potential of the two countries.
For his part, Algeria’s Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum sent a congratulatory message to Iranian counterpart Mohammad Djavad Zarif, praising the deep bonds of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation binding the two countries, and stressing the constant keenness to work with Iran to continue strengthening relations and promoting cooperation between Iran and Algeria in various fields.
Following the victory of 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, bilateral ties between the two nations developed and the two countries intensified meetings and exchanges culminating in the adoption of similar stances on an array of regional and international issues, particularly the problems faced by the World of Islam like the ones in Palestine and Syria.
Late in October 25, 2019, President Hassan Rouhani held, on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, a meeting with the interim President of Algeria Abdelkader Bensalah, during which they agreed to introduce new mechanisms for developing relations. Forming the economic commission of the two countries was on the agenda of the talks with a view to further contributing to the enhancement of this cooperation.
