President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received a message from his Tunisian counterpart, Kaïs Saied, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, according to a statement released, on Monday, by the Presidency of the Tunisian Republic.
In his message, the Tunisian president wished, from the outset, good health to “his brother” President Tebboune. He, also, wished the “brotherly Algerian” people more progress and prosperity.
Kaïs Saied invoked “the immense sacrifices and the epics of struggle of the martyrs who gave their pure souls to Tunisia and Algeria”. “They defended the values of freedom and dignity,” he wrote.
President Saied affirmed that the commemoration of the events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef constitutes, each time, an opportunity to “recall the fraternal links which unite the two countries”. “It is a bright page in the joint Tunisian-Algerian history of struggle, from which we are inspired by the values of sacrifice, solidarity, support and complementarity,” he added.
In addition, the Tunisian President reiterated to the President of the Republic his determination to “continue to strengthen consultation and coordination between them”. “Tunisia and Algeria are one people who, throughout history, have been linked by deep ties in all fields,” he concludes.
