Sputnik V vaccine: When will new batches be delivered to Algeria?

The Director General of the Pasteur Institute, Dr Fawzi Derrar, indicated that new doses of the Sputnik V vaccine will be delivered to Algeria in February and March, stressing that the Institute benefits from availability assurances from its foreign partners.

Speaking, Friday evening, in a television program of the A3 channel of EPTV, dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Derrar indicated that the objective is to vaccinate 75% of citizens over 18 years old, which is equivalent to 40 million doses needed to dramatically reduce transmission of the virus across the country.

A period ranging from six months to over a year is needed to complete the national vaccination campaign, he highlighted.

The head of the Pasteur Institute indicated that the first phase of the national vaccination campaign concerns the areas where the rates of contamination are the highest.
