The minister for pharmaceutical industry Lotfi Benbahmed said today, Sunday, Feb 07th, 2021, that Russia has identified Algeria as a country capable of producing a vaccine against Coronavirus.

Speaking to the National Radio, Mr. Benbahmed explained that Algeria is facing the challenge of producing the vaccine against Covid-19.

As such, the minister added that Saidal and 4 companies specialized in the production of drugs have experience in the production of vaccines, underlining that, in coordination with the Russian side, they will be able to produce the anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

Mr. Benbahmed stressed that Russia has expressed determination to provide the technology and accompany Algeria in this project by transferring the necessary technologies to our country, highlighting that Algeria has the capacities of vaccine production.

It should be recalled that the Algerian laboratory of pharmaceutical production “Frater Razes” is in discussion with a Russian operator for the production of vaccine “Sputnik V” against the Covid-19 virus.

Minister Benbahmed: “we must regulate the pharmaceutical industry”:

On another level, Mr. Benbahmed stressed the need to regulate the pharmaceutical industry in order to achieve exports.

In a statement granted to the National Radio, the same official explained that the sector objective is to guarantee pharmaceutical products and to develop industry in this area, “then to move towards export.
