The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abdelrahmane Benbouzid, said, today, Sunday, Feb 06th, 2021, that the Algerian authorities has mobilized all necessary capabilities and means to confront the global Coronavirus epidemic.
As such, the minister explained, during a study day on arrangements related to vaccination operations, that the operations to fight the spread of the virus had been expanded to cover the whole year.
In this vein, the minister revealed that positive results were recorded in the health situation, through a decrease in the contaminations and an increase in the number of recovery.
He specified that Algeria currently has 82 laboratories qualified for PCR diagnosis, adding that thanks to these efforts, positive results have been recorded.
He pointed out that the ministry had adopted a strategy that included the appropriate formula for the acquisition of the vaccine against the virus.
The head of health sector in Algeria revealed that faced with the increasing global demands, negotiations have been launched with foreign companies for the acquisition of the vaccines since August 6, 2020. The discussions focused, mainly, on the procedure to secure the necessary quantities and the acquisition in January, in implementation of the instructions of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
To this end, several agreements, memoranda of understanding and contracts have been signed with several parties in order to acquire the first batches of the vaccine.
On another level, the minister, also, called on citizens to get vaccinated with a view to permanently warding off the spread of the pandemic and returning to normal life.
