The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reforms, Abderrahmane Benbouzid tackled, today, Sunday, february 7, 2021, the health situation in Algeria, in particular the vaccination campaign launched a week ago.
Speaking on a study day devoted to the Coronavirus vaccination, the minister said the state has deployed all means necessary to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.
Among the measures taken in this direction, Benbouzid cited the vaccination campaign, which has been enlarged to cover several provinces of the country, noting that his department “has adopted a strategy capable of ensuring the best formula for acquiring vaccine against the Covid -19, in particular by increasing the means of financing ”.
According to the speaker, the scientific committee began examining means to select the appropriate vaccines, recalling that Algeria had started talks with the manufacturers of the vaccines since the 6th of August.
These measures aimed, according to the same official, “to ensure the availability of vaccine in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune”. Moreover, “several agreements and memorandu of understanding have been signed with several parties in order to acquire the first batches of vaccine”.
“A marked improvement in the epidemiological situation”
Likewise, the Minister of Health called on citizens to the need for vaccination to end the epidemic and ensure an imminent return to normal life.
Regarding the epidemiological situation linked to the coronavirus in Algeria, the first head of the health sector noted “a marked improvement following the decrease in cases in intensive care, and the increase in cases of recovery”.
In the same context, he underlined that Algeria currently has no less than 82 screening centers with PCR, “and thanks to these efforts, the country has recorded rather positive results”.
