A batch of vaccine, the quantity of which is not yet known, will be offered by China to Algeria with a view to ward off the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, tweeted, today, Saturday, Feb 06th, the Chinese embassy in Algeria.
“China will continue to provide assistance to Algeria with a view to fighting the pandemic…. it will donate a quantity of Chinese vaccines as a gift to Algeria in the near future, as a contribution to overcoming this pandemic together,” read the tweet.
Earlier, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad received, in Algiers, China’s Ambassador to Algeria Li Lianhe, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a communiqué.
Discussions focused on “the state and prospects of bilateral relations, in particular the priority projects of Algerian-Chinese cooperation, in the light of the Global Strategic Partnership (GSP) which links the two countries,” the statement added.
The hearing was also “an opportunity to address all the issues related to the coordination of the efforts of the two countries in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, including the monitoring of the acquisition by Algeria vaccine developed by China, “pointed out the same source.
The meeting, which took place at the Government Palace, “took place in the presence of the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Abderrahmane Lotfi Djamel Benbahmed and the Director General of the Institut Pasteur, Fawzi Derrar”, the statement concluded.
