Algeria is eying to run for a seat at the UN Security Council for the period between 2024 and 2025 as a non-permanent member for the Africa zone.
As such, the African Union executive council has expressed support for the Algerian candidacy during its ordinary session.
Noting that in January 2018, Algeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel revealed that his government plans to run for the round table of the United Nations executive body for the period 2019-2020.
