Coronavirus in Algeria: New confirmed cases, deaths during last 24 hours/ Jan 31

Two hundred and seventeen (217) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), and 03 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said, Sundqy, January 31st, 2021, in Algiers, the spokesman of the scientific committee for the follow-up of the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic, Dr Djamel Fourar.

Two hundred and seventeen (217) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), and 03 deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said, Sunday, January 31st, 2021, in Algiers, the spokesman of the scientific committee for the follow-up of the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic, Dr Djamel Fourar.

Speaking during the daily press conference devoted to the evolution of the pandemic, Professor Djamel Fourar affirmed that the total assessment of the pandemic rose to 107399 confirmed cases including 2891 deaths since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Algeria.

The same official reaffirmed the need to respect preventive measures, namely hygiene instructions, social distancing, confinement and wearing masks in order to help fight the spread of the pandemic.

Finally, the same official called upon, once again, the citizens to scrupulously respect social distancing and preventive measures, urging them to comply with the instructions.

For its part, the government, “aware of the extra efforts that everyone has to make, reiterates its call for citizens to remain aware of the health, economic and social challenges of the Covid-19.”

The Government decided on Saturday, January 30, 2021, in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the extension, as of Sunday, January 31st, 2021, of the partial sanitary lockdown by another 15 days, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day in 19 provinces of the country, a preventive measure taken as part of the health crisis management system linked to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in Algeria, indicated a press release from the Prime Minister’s services.

The concerned provinces are: Batna, Biskra, Blida, Bouira, Tebessa, Tlemcen, Tizi Ouzou, Algiers, Jijel, Sidi Bel Abbes, Constantine, Mostaganem, Messila, Oran, Boumerdes, El-Tarf, Tissemsilt, Ain Temouchent, and Relizane.

The following nineteen (29) provinces are not affected by the partial home confinement measure: Adrar, Chlef, Laghouat, Bejaia, Bechar, Oum El Bouaghi, Tamanrasset, Tiaret, Djelfa, Setif, Saida, Skikda, Annaba, Guelma, Medea, Mascara, Ouargla, El Bayadh, Ilizi, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tindouf, El Oued, Khenchela, Souk Ahras, Tipaza, Mila, Ain Defla, Naama, and Ghardaia.

The vaccination campaign was launched, today, Sunday, Jan 31st, 2021, in the capital Algiers.

As such, the spokesman for the scientific committee in charge of the follow-up of Coronavirus pandemic evolution, Dr Djamel Fourar, who, also, serves as the Health Ministry’s manager for prevention, supervised the launch of the vaccination drive in this province.

Earlier yesterday, Health Minister Abderrahmane Benbouzid launched the vaccination campaign in Blida, one of the most affected provinces by this pandemic in the beginning of the health crisis.

The operation will concern, in a first step, people prone to infections and transmissions, notably staff of the medical sector, the elderly and people with chronic disease. It will, also, be extended, as from Sunday, to cover other sectors, namely; Police services and Civil Protection, education and also Imams, political officials and the media body.

The first shipment of the Russian anti-Covid-19 vaccine “Sputnik V” landed, Friday, at Bouafrik Airport (province of Blida).
