The Professor and Head of Forensic Medicine at Mustapha Pasha Hospital, Rachid Belhadj, commented, today, Sunday, January 17th, 2021, on the Russian anti-Covid-19 vaccine chosen by Algeria.
Speaking to Channel 3 of the National Radio, Belhadj commented about the acquisition of the Russian vaccine against Covid-19 (Sputnik V) by declaring: ” No case of serious side effects on people who have been administered the Sputnik V vaccine has been recorded, worldwide, to date ”.
While asserting that the vaccine is the only effective way to break the chain of transmission and stem the spread of the pandemic, the Professor explained the the concerned authorities, like other countries, have resorted to several vaccines of different leboratories, worldwide, among those approved for their safety and efficacy, specifying, in this regard, “that the vaccines which are selected by Algeria are not used for the first time”.
Highlighting its efficacy, Pr. Belhadj stated that Algeria awaits the receipt of the first batch of the Russian vaccine in the coming days, adding that ” it is already used in more than 50 countries in the world”.
To conclude, the Professor assured that the concerned authorities, in particular the Algerian scientists, are on guard to provide further information on the vaccines, and inform citizens on “the slightest danger that may come from them”.
