Health Minister voices on “sharing Algeria’s vaccines with Tunisia”

Algeria to receive nearly one million Covid-19 vaccine doses late February

The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Pr. Abderrahmane Benbouzid, reacted to the news of sharing doses of Algeria’s anti Coronavirus vaccine with Tunisia.

In an interview with Russia Today ’television channel on Thursday, Pr. Benbouzid said Tunisia’s request for sharing doses of Russian’ Sputnik-v ’vaccine would be discussed by the government.

“We have received a request from Tunisia, it will be studied by the government (…) Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco are united. We have the same customs ”, declared the first person in charge of health sector in Algeria.

“As Algerians and Muslims, it is our nature and even duty to share what we have. We could share the anti-Covid-19 vaccines with Tunisia like another country, ”added Pr. Benbouzid.

Algeria to receive the anti-Covid-19 vaccines before end of January:

Algeria should receive the Chinese anti Coronavirus vaccine (Covid-19) before the end of January, the government spokesman said on Wednesday.

During a press briefing after the government meeting, Communication Minister Ammar Belhimer said that the first batch of the Chinese anti-Covid-19 vaccine should be received by Algeria before the end of january.

“In addition to the Russian vaccine, Algeria is expected to receive another batch of anti-Covid-19 vaccine from China by the end of January 2021,” he said.

“During the government meeting, a project was adopted, mainly focusing on the implementation of new measures facilitating the procurement of vaccine against the Coronavirus in light of the urgent global demand,” Belhimer added.

Sputnik-v vaccine registered by Algeria:

The Russian anti Covid-19 vaccine was registered by Algeria, on january 10, for the vaccination campaign scheduled before the end of the month.

“The Russian anti Covid-19 (sputnik v) vaccine has been registered by the national agency for pharmaceutical products under the ministry of pharmaceutical industry, following the results of the meeting of the commission for the registration of pharmaceutical products for use of the human medicine, held the same day, had announced the national agency the pharmaceutical products in a press release.
