Ryad Mahiaoui, a member of the scientific committee to monitor and follow up the evolution of Covid-19 in Algeria, said that Algeria is ready to receive the first batch of anti-Coronavirus vaccine and hence, start the vaccination campaign.
Professor Mahiaoui revealed that the government has mobilized 8,000 health centers to start the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus and that the operation will be carried out by prior registrations with local health establishments.
The Ministry of Health has scheduled a vaccination campaign against the coronavirus at 8,000 health centers, revealed Mahiaoui at the microphone of Channel I of the National Radio.
The interlocutor explained that the operation will be carried out according to a very clear plan and through the prior registrations of citizens wishing to be vaccinated.
As for the start date of the process, he said everything was set to receive the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine and that it should be launched no later than the last week of January.
The Director-General of the National Institute of Health, Lyes Rahal said that the vaccination campaign will start before the end of this month and that health workers and the elderly will be vaccinated as a priority.
Djamel Fourar, spokesman of the scientific committee to monitor and follow up the evolution of Covid-19 in Algeria said, on Saturday, that “Algeria is not betting on the vaccine from a single laboratory”. It will, according to him, acquire several vaccines from different laboratories among those approved for their safety and effectiveness.
