BAMAKO- Algerian foreign minister Sabri Boukadoum, proposed the drawing up of a new roadmap adapted to the objectives of the peace agreement, resulting from the Algiers process, and to the Transition period in Mali, while stressing on Algeria’s unwavering commitment to support the process.

“Today I reiterate Algeria’s commitment, in its capacity as leader of international mediation and chair of the Peace Agreement Monitoring Committee (CSA), to do everything possible to continue the implementation of peace agreement, resulting from the Algiers process, during this delicate period “, declared Mr. Boukadoum at the opening of the 41st ordinary session of the CFS held in Bamako.

On this occasion, the head of Algerian diplomacy recalled that “the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, underlined all the interest he attaches to the full application of the Agreement as the only way to enable Mali to preserve its stability over the long term and meet the multiple challenges it faces “.

In this regard, he noted that “Algeria, which has made significant efforts for the stabilization of Mali through the conclusion of the Agreement, and for the preservation of the stability of this brotherly country during the last months, ‘is fully committed to providing support for the ongoing Transition “.

In this context, “it would be important that your work culminate, in a reasonably short time, in the completion of the implementation of the priority actions inherited from the previous sessions,” said the Minister, addressing the participants.

“We believe that the current context offers an excellent opportunity for the Malian Party to look at the remaining stages of the implementation of the Agreement through the development of a new roadmap adapted to the objectives and the timetable of the Transition “, he advocated in this regard. Obviously, maintained the Minister, “it would be important for the Malian Party to equip itself with an innovative working framework which would allow it to forge, in serenity, the consensus necessary to identify new initiatives to be adopted in this area. “.

Indeed, “the commitment of the stakeholders to the implementation of the Agreement has continued or even widened further since August 18, 2020”, he added, welcoming, in this regard, the effective presence of the nine women who were recently appointed to sit on the CSA.

He asked, as such, all parties to “honor their obligations. The era is no longer of procrastination and competition around peripheral issues but of useful, concrete and serious work, of the tightening of ranks and to national cohesion “.
