Constitutional amendment: Algerian people to keep promise by participating in referendum


ALGIERS- The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, Kamel Beldjoud expressed, Thursday in Algiers, “convinction” that “the Algerian people will keep their promise” to effect change through their participation in popular referendum on the amendment of the Constitution scheduled for November 1.

Speaking at a meeting organized as part of the review of the sector budget for 2021, by the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Mr. Beldjoud said that Algeria ‘is preparing to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious Liberation War, affirming his conviction that the Algerian people who did not fail in their engagement on November 1, 1954 for the liberation of Algeria, will keep their promise this time in favor of change through their participation in a decisive stop in the country’s history, namely the popular referendum on the Constitution of November 1, 2020 “.

He welcomed “the new gains” included in the constitutional revision initiated by the President of the Republic, such as “the consecration of the citizen’s right to information, the strengthening of freedom of expression, journalistic creativity, in favor of citizenship and participatory democracy “.

On the occasion of National Press Day celebrated on October 22 of each year, the Minister of the Interior seized this opportunity to send “his best wishes” to the media corporation, saluting “the efforts and professionalism of the latter in Algeria as well as its role in enlightening public opinion with complete objectivity and transparency “.
