ALGIERS- Italy is determined to further strengthen its relations with Algeria, the Italian Interior minister Luciana Lamorgese, who is on a visit to Algeria, said Tuesday in Algiers.
“We reiterated our willingness to further strengthen our relationship with Algeria, which dates back to a long time, “Ms. Lamorgese told the press after the audience granted to her by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
She said, in this regard, that her visit is also an “opportunity” to reiterate her country’s determination to cooperate with Algeria in several areas.
Ms. Lamorgese, also, noted that she discussed with President Tebboune cooperation between the two countries in the security field and in the field of Civil Protection in the event of natural and other kinds of disasters.
In addition, she said she presented Italy’s “thanks” to Algeria for the help sent when her country was struggling with the coronavirus outbreak.
While considering that this visit will be “followed by others”, Mrs. Lamorgese indicated that President Tebboune has asked her to convey his greetings to his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella.
