Covid-19: Lifting of ban on road traffic from and to 29 provinces

The government has decided to adjust the relevant hours of lockdown in 29 provinces of the country from 23:00 till 06:00 the following day, with the lifting of the ban on road traffic from and to 29 provinces and the extending of the ban on public an private passenger transport activity on the weekends in the previously cited provinces, as part of the fight against the novel coronavirus, the Prime Minister’s Office said Saturday in a statement.

The concerned provinces: Boumerdes, Souk Ahras, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, Mascara, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Bouira, Relizane, Biskra, Khenchela, M’sila, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbes, Medea, Blida, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Tipaza, Ouargla, Bechar, Algiers, Constantine, Oran, Setif, Annaba, Bejaia, Adrar, Laghouat and El Oued, according to the statement.

This directive will come into effect as of tomorrow, August, 09th, 2020 until Aug, 31.

Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad said the decision to renew lockdown measures was made after consultation with the Scientific Committee monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and the health authorities.

PM Djerad, also, called on citizens to respect all the hygiene measures and barrier gestures recommended under the health protocols with strict solidarity and discipline, such as the compulsory wearing of masks and physical distancing.

On February 25, Algeria recorded its first infection with COVID-19.
