Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, has initiated “immediate and consistent support and an adequate response to the needs of the citizen” following the two medium-intensity earthquakes which shook the wilaya of Mila on Friday, announced the services of the Prime Minister.
Regarding damaged homes, as a result of the disaster, an “emergency rural rehabilitation program will be initiated”, the same services added.
“It is the same for damaged roads whose repair will take place immediately by public works”, pointed out the same source, while reassuring that the local authorities will remain “closely associated with the management of this natural disaster”.
In addition, the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Regional Planning, Kamel Beldjoud, and that of National Solidarity, Family and the Status of Women, Kaoutar Krikou, paid a field visit to the site with a view to inquiring about the damages caused by the disaster and the conditions of support for affected citizens.
As a reminder, a telluric tremor of 4.9 magnitude on the open Richter scale was recorded on Friday at 7.15 a.m. in the wilaya of Mila, according to the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG).
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 2 km south-east of Hammala in the same wilaya.
A new earthquake of magnitude 4.5 on the open Richter scale followed at 12:13 p.m. in the same wilaya. Its epicenter was located 3 km south of Hammala.
