On run in Turkey: Gaïd Salah’s former private secretary extradited to Algeria

The elements of the Directorate-General for Internal Security arrested the former private secretary of the late chief of staff of the ANP, Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Gharmit Benouira who was on the run abroad, reported Ennahar TV.

The Algerian security services, in coordination with the Turkish secret services, were able to arrest Gharmit Benouira who was on the run in Turkey.

“By order of the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and in coordination between Algerian security services and Turkish secret services, retired first assistant and the former private secretary of the late chief of staff of the ANP, Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Gharmit Benouira, who was on the run abroad, was handed over, last Thursday, to Algeria to get appeared before the military investigators on Monday,” the statement said.

Investigations revealed that the defendant took advantages of his post to create wealth and own real estate inside and outside the country. The same media outlet claimed that Benouira faces heavy charges related to disclosing confidential documents and information from the Ministry of National Defense.

Besides, the private news channel added that he was in close contacts with retired military personnel abroad, in particular, the former Director-General of Internal Security, Ouasini Bouazza, and the former National Gendarmerie Commander Ghali Bel Kassir.
