Remains of young Algerian Akram, who died in Belgium, to be repatriated, Wednesday


ALGIERS – The mortal remains of the late Kadri Abderrahmane Ridha aka Akram, who died in Antwerp (Belgium) on July 19, 2020, in circumstances not yet clarified and defined, will arrive in Algiers on Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.

It should be remembered that Algeria demanded that all light be shed on the circumstances of the death of this Algerian citizen.

The competent authorities of the Kingdom of Belgium “were, thus, officially referred to the effect of providing exhaustive and detailed information on the exact circumstances of the arrest and death of our compatriot, in accordance with the consular convention of May 17, 1979 between Algeria and Belgium “, noted the spokesperson of the MAE in a statement sent to the APS.

“Our diplomatic and consular representations in Belgium remain in permanent contact with the official Belgian authorities as well as with the family of the deceased and their lawyer”, he added.
