The military aircraft of Algeria’s Air Forces, carrying the skulls of 24 Algerian resistance martyrs, preserved for over a century and a half at the Natural History Museum in Paris, arrived, by midday, in Algiers Houari-Boumedienne International Airport, Ennaher TV reported.
The plane took off, this morning, Friday, July, 03rd, 2020, from France for the repatriation of the remains of 24 Algerian resistance martyrs.
In this aspect, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the Minister of National Defense, Abelmadjid Taboune, is presiding over the reception ceremony.
The remains of the martyrs will be transferred to the Culture Palace, tomorrow, Saturday, in order to enable citizens to pay their final tribute to the remains of the martyrs of the Algerian popular resistance, from 08h to 18h.
The funeral of the remains of Algeria’s martyrs will take place, Sunday, coinciding with the Independence Day, at the Martyrs Square, in the Cemetery of El Alia in the capital, in the presence of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
President Tebboune, on Thursday, announced the repatriation, on Friday, of the remains of 24 Algerian resistance fighters, while affirming that other batches of martyrs’ remains will be brought back home.
In an address at the National People’s Army (ANP) promotion ceremony held on the occasion of 58th anniversary of Independence and Youth Day, President Tebboune said that “an Air Force plane will land on Friday at Algiers Houari-Boumedienne International Airport carrying the remains of 24 leaders of the Popular Resistance and their companions from all parts of Algeria. Deprived for over 170 years from the natural and human right to be buried, the remains to be repatriated are those of Cherif Boubeghla, Cheikh Ahmed Bouziane, chief of the Zaatcha uprising Cherif Bou Amar Ben Kedida, Si Mokhtar Ben Kouider Al-Titraoui and others, including Mohamed Ben Hadj, a 18 year old fighter from Beni Menasser tribe.”
