ALGIERS- The chief executive officer of Sonelgaz, Chaher Boulakhras, has been unanimously elected president of the Association of the Mediterranean Transmission System Operators for electricity (Med-TSO) for a three-year term, the group said Thursday in a statement.

The election took place at a general meeting of the Association held on July 1 by videoconference mode due to the constraints linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, the same source said.

“The trust placed in the person of Mr. Chaher Boulakhras by the nineteen members of the association composed of the main electricity companies in the countries of the Mediterranean basin and of which Sonelgaz has been a member since the association was created on April 19, 2019 , once again demonstrates the position occupied by the Sonelgaz Group among the major energy operators around the Mediterranean, “added the press release.

“This election, also, testifies to the contribution of Sonelgaz within Med-TSO thanks to its expertise and know-how accumulated over the fifty years of its existence, in particular with regard to the efforts undertaken by the Group for the economic and social development of our country, offering Algeria a special place in terms of access to energy “, underlined the dame source.
