ALGIERS – The Minister of Culture and the Arts, Malika Bendouda received, on Monday in Algiers, the Ambassador of Turkey, Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas and the Ambassador of Tunisia in Algiers, Mr. Chafik Hajji with whom she examined the ways and means of strengthening cultural cooperation with the two countries, said a statement from the ministry.
Receiving the Turkish Ambassador, Ms. Bendouda highlighted “the excellent relations between Algeria and Turkey, especially in the cultural field,” added the statement.
On this occasion, the two parties agreed on the opening of the Algerian cultural center in Turkey and also the Turkish cultural center in Algeria, and to work permanently on the implementation of the executive cultural exchange program between the two countries, “the statement added.
For her part, the Turkish ambassador in Algiers affirmed “the readiness of her country to mobilize Turkish expertise in safeguarding and restoring the Algerian heritage”, according to the same source.
During her meeting with the Tunisian ambassador, Ms. Bendouda highlighted “the privileged relations existing between Algeria and Tunisia, particularly in the field of Culture”.
The two sides agreed to set up a joint commission to define future cooperation projects between Algeria and Tunisia, the statement concluded.
