ALGIERS- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cherif Omari chaired, on Thursday in Algiers, a meeting to monitor and evaluate the harvest-threshing campaign for the 2019-2020 agricultural season, the ministry said in a statement.
In this vein, executives of the central administration, officials of the Algerian Interprofessional Cereals Office (OAIC), representatives of the National Interprofessional Council of the cereal sector, directors of technical institutes, representatives of the National Chamber of Agriculture (CNA) and private seed companies attended this meeting, held at the headquarters of the trusteeship.
The meeting was enhanced by the presence of representatives of the Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (BADR), the National Fund for Agricultural Mutuality (CNMA) and the Director General (DG) of the National Company for the marketing of Agricultural equipment ( PMAT), specified the same source.
This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the results of field monitoring, and in particular the measures and procedures to strengthen transport mechanisms, storage capacities and harvesting of crops by farmers.
To do this, the Minister stressed on the imperarive to “meet all the necessary conditions and mobilize the material, human and even scientific means, to wit; the materials and equipment for harvesting, storage and collection of cereals “.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Omari pleaded for the acceleration of internet payment (or e-payment) at the BADR level in order to facilitate the payment of farmers’ debts, especially during this Covid-19 crisis, concluded the statement.
