Seizure of more than four quintals of treated hashish in Naâma


ALGIERS – More than four quintals of treated Hashish were seized on Wednesday in Ain Safra in the province of Naâma, following a search operations carried out by the Border guards, indicated, on Thursday, a press release from the Ministry of National Defense.

“As part of the fight against smuggling and organized crime and in the dynamic of sustained efforts aimed at stemming the spread of the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, Border Guards seized, on June 17, 2020, a large amount of treated hashish amounting to four (04) quintals and 32 kilograms and this, following a search patrol carried out near the commune of Sfissifa, daïra of Ain Safra, province of Naâma in the 2nd Military Region” , specified the same source.

In the same context, “combined detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) intercepted, during separate operations carried out in Oran, Tlemcen and Ain Temouchent in 2nd MR, Constantine and Bordj Bou Arréridj in 5th MR, ten (10 ) drug traffickers and seized 82.5 kg of treated Hahsihs and 9,841 psychotropic tablets, while a (01) smuggler in possession of 89,400 tablets of various drugs was arrested in Ouargla / 4th MR “, added the press release from MDN.

In addition, “ANP detachments arrested in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Djanet, 48 individuals and seized two (02) trucks, three (03) all-terrain vehicles, 230 tonnes of foodstuffs , 3,800 liters of fuel, 12.5 tonnes of cement for smuggling as well as 143 bags of mixture of stones and gold, 13 generators, 14 jackhammers, two (02) metal detectors and detonation used in illicit gold panning operations “.
