Algeria-UAE: Bilateral cooperation, energy partnership discussed in Algiers

ALGIERS – Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab held, on Monday, a meeting with the United Arab Emirates ambassador in Algiers, Yousef Saif Khamis Sabaa Al Ali, with whom he discussed the state of bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two countries in the areas of energy, said a statement from the ministry.

The talks, which were held by videoconference, focused on examining the state of cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries in the energy fields and the prospects for their development, the same source said.

The two sides, also, noted the “important” opportunities for partnership and investment between the two countries in the fields of petrochemicals and renewable energies in particular, the statement added.

To this end, Mr. Arkab invited the UAE companies to invest more in Algeria and participate in the ambitious projects that the sector is preparing to launch soon, particularly in renewable energies.

The Minister of Energy thanked the United Arab Emirates, on this occasion, for the voluntary reductions in their oil production in order to contribute to the stability and balance of the oil market.

For his part, the Emirati ambassador, who said he was satisfied with the cooperation relations between the two countries, expressed the keen interest of the Emirati investors to work in Algeria and invest in mutually beneficial projects, concluded the press release.
