Culture Minister takes part in virtual forum of African culture ministers


ALGIERS – The Minister of Culture Malika Bendouda took part, on Wednesday, in the virtual forum of the Ministers of Culture of the Member States of the African Union and officials of the arts, culture and heritage sector of the continent, said a press release from ministry.

This summit was held as part of the continental strategy of the AU in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.

Participants addressed “the challenges facing the cultural and creative industries” in this pandemic period by proposing “solutions within the framework of the AU,” said the statement, adding that the ministers also “discussed measures to even alleviate the impact of the pandemic on the arts, culture and heritage sectors “.

Participants agreed, the statement pointed out, on the need to “implement a work plan to support these sectors” and “strengthen social security systems” to alleviate the social impact of the pandemic on culture workers.
