Counter Terrorism: Nine homemade bombs destroyed in Tébessa


ALGIERS – Nine homemade bombs were discovered and destroyed, on Tuesday, in the province of Tébessa by a detachment of the People’s National Army, said, on Wednesday, a press release from the Ministry of National Defense.

“As part of the fight against terrorism, a detachment of the ANP discovered and destroyed, on May 26, 2020, nine (9) homemade bombs in Stah Guentis, province of Tébessa in the 5th Military Region”, specified the same source .

As part of the fight against smuggling and organized crime, ANP detachments “intercepted, in Tindouf, In Guezzam and Bordj Badji Mokhtar, fourteen (14) individuals and seized six (6 ) all-terrain vehicles, 2,670 liters of fuel, 5.5 tonnes of foodstuffs as well as five (5) jackhammers and three (3) generators “.

In Oum El Bouaghi, a detachment of the ANP “apprehended, in coordination with the services of the National Security, a drug trafficker in his possession 1,527 psychotropic tablets”, added the same source, noting further that ” elements of the National Gendarmerie arrested, in Biskra, three (3) smugglers and seized 2470 packs of cigarettes and 1480 units of different drinks “.

Furthermore, the Coast Guard “thwarted an attempt to smuggle six (6) individuals aboard a craft boat in Annaba, while eight (8) illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Tlemcen and Béchar “.
