Amine Sidi Boumediene’s film “Abou Leila” awarded in Spain


ALGIERS- The Algerian fiction feature film “Abou Leila,” by director Amine Sidi Boumediene, received Friday the Critics’ Award of the 2020 Barcelona D’A Film Festival which wrapped up Sunday, announced the organizers on the event website.

The Algerian-French-Qatari 140 minutes co-production, “Abu Leila” looks back on the tragic events of the 1990s, through the story of young Samir, played by Slimane Benouari, and Lotfi camped by Lyes Salem who stalk in the Algerian desert Abu Leila, a dangerous terrorist.

The film explores the impact of violence and its traumas on society.
