ALGIERS- More than three quintals of treated Hashish and a large quantity of psychotropic tablets were seized, on Wednesday, by border guards and elements of the National Gendarmerie in the provinces of Béchar and Laghouat, said, on Thursday, the Ministry of National Defense in a press release.
“As part of the fight against organized crime and in the dynamics of tireless efforts aimed at stemming the spread of the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, border guards in coordination with elements of the National Gendarmerie, seized, on May 13 2020, a large quantity of treated Hashish amounting to three (03) quintals and (24) kilograms, and this during a search operation carried out in the locality of Oued Sidi Cheikh, commune of Beni Ounif, province of Bechar in 3rd military region “, specified the press release.
In the same context and still in Bechar, “border guards intercepted four (04) drug traffickers aboard a vehicle loaded with (10.9) kilograms of treated Hashish, while elements of the National Gendarmerie arrested in Aflou , province of Laghouat in 4th military region, two (02) other drug traffickers in possession of (10450) psychotropic tablets. Likewise (20000) packets of cigarettes were seized in Ouargla “, added the same source.
