Coronavirus: Walis donate one-month salary


ALGIERS-The Walis (Governors) of the Republic have decided to donate a month salary under solidarity against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, announced Sunday the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning in a communiqué.

The general and senior officers of the People’s National Army agreed to donate one month of their salaries as part of the contribution of the Army’s staffs to the national efforts to alleviate the effects of the health crisis at the social level, following the pandemic of the new coronavirus, said Monday the National Defense Ministry in a communiqué.

“In the wake of the contribution of personnel from the National People’s Army to national efforts to cushion the repercussions of the health crisis following the outbreak of the pandemic of the new Coronavirus, the general officers and senior officers of the ANP agreed to make a donation of one month of their salaries, which will be paid into the COVID-19 solidarity accounts opened for this purpose, “said the same source.

This “initiative launched by the President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, reflects the spirit of cohesion, solidarity and brotherhood that distinguish the Algerian people, confirming once again the unchanging position of the ANP with the people on the same front to overcome this crisis as soon as possible and with the least consequences, “added the same statement.
