ALGIERS- Three drug traffickers were arrested and 611 kg of cannabis seized, Tuesday, by a combined detachment of the People’s National Army, in coordination with the Customs, in Naama, the ministry of National Defense said Wednesday in a statement.
“As part of the fight against smuggling and organized crime and in the dynamics of operations aimed at stemming the spread of the drug scourge in our country, a combined detachment of the People’s National Army has arrested in coordination with the services of Customs in Naâma (2nd Military Region), on March 24, 2020, three (3) drug traffickers and seized a large quantity of treted Hahsish amounting to 611 kilograms, “the press release said.
In the same context, “a detachment of the ANP arrested in coordination with elements of the National Gendarmerie in Sétif, eight (8) drug traffickers and seized 85,290 psychotropic tablets, four (4) vehicles and a sum of money amounting to four (4) billion cents, while other detachments of the ANP have apprehended, in El-Tarf and Constantine, eight (8) drug traffickers in possession of 8,076 psychotropic tablets “, noted the same source.
In addition, ANP detachments “arrested, during separate operations carried out in Djanet and Tamanrasset, 223 individuals and seized 35 generator sets, 21 jackhammers and 1,600 liters of fuel intended for smuggling”.
On the other hand, elements of the National Gendarmerie “apprehended, in coordination with the services of the National Security in Adrar, three (3) smugglers and seized 114.9 tonnes of foodstuffs.
