Finance Minister, Chinese Ambassador discuss bilateral economic cooperation

ALGIERS – The Minister of Finance, Abderrahmane Raouya, received on Wednesday in Algiers, the Chinese ambassador to Algeria, Li Lianhe, with whom he discussed bilateral economic cooperation and the means of its consolidation, the ministry said on Thursday.

During these talks, Mr. Raouya noted the “strategic” character of Algerian-Chinese relations, enshrined, in particular, by the conclusion of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in February 2014 as well as the accession of the Algeria on the initiative of the Chinese president “the belt and the road”, according to the press release.

Recalling the “historic” links uniting the two countries, the minister underlined “the appreciable contribution of Chinese companies in the realization of major structuring projects of the country”.

Mr.Raouya called, in this sense, to “a greater contribution of these companies in the effort to diversify the Algerian economy”.

In this regard, the two sides discussed the state of preparations for certain large-scale projects, noted the same source.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed his “great satisfaction” with the development of multifaceted relations between the two countries in recent years.

He affirmed that he is working to give a “new impetus” to these relations through, in particular, the widening of the fields of investment and partnership between the companies of the two countries because the potential in this field is, according to him, “exceptional”, added the press release.
