ALGIERS – Major General Saïd Chanegricha, Acting Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), awarded the Medal of Bravery to the valiant Chahid Benadda Brahim, “in recognition and gratitude to the sacrifices of the Chahid who sacrificed himself for his homeland, Algeria “.
This tribute was paid on Thursday by the Major General on the 2nd day of his visit to the 6th Military Region.
He underlined, during a speech delivered during this visit, his support for the personnel of the Timiaouine detachment, “following the cowardly terrorist attack which targeted this detachment, at the beginning of this week, making the Shahid fall in the field of honor, reiterating, on this occasion, his condolences to the family and those close to the Chahid.
As a reminder, a detachment of the ANP had been the target of a suicide bomber aboard an all-terrain vehicle, on February 9, 2020, in the border area of Timiaouine in Bordj Badji Mokhtar.
The member in charge of access control managed to defeat the attempted entry of the suspect vehicle. However, the suicide bomber detonated his vehicle causing the death of the soldier on duty. (APS)
