National Cultural Festival of Amazigh Theatre kicks off in Batna


BATNA- The 11th National Cultural Festival of Amazigh kicked off Monday evening, in Batna (435-km southeast of Algiers), in attendance of writers, fourth Art enthusiasts and local authorities.

The large audience applauded the actors in the opening play “Tkaadha” (message) from the association “Golden Sands” for the local cultural arts of Timimoune (Adrar).

The work which highlights the musical and popular heritage of the Timimoune region addresses the subject of the inheritance and behavior of the heir brothers.

The opening ceremony of this festival, which will continue till February 11, was marked by the performance of the Numidès troupe, which performed a cocktail of songs from the chaoui musical heritage.

“The theater is one of the artistic forms to which the Ministry of Culture takes all the interest to promote cultural diversity”, affirmed the Minister of Culture, Malika Bendouda, in her message read by her adviser H’mida Ayachi during the opening of the festival this year under the slogan “theater, a space of communication and brotherhood between generations”.

For his part, the curator of the festival, Salim Souhli noted that this cultural event aims to support creators in the field of scenic arts and sow the values ​​of communication, brotherhood and tolerance within Algerian society.

A total of 16 troupes compete for the prizes of this 11th national cultural festival of Amazigh expression theater.
