Coronavirus: Algerian plane repatriates Algerian, Tunisian, Libyan, Mauritanian nationals


ALGIERS- Air Algerie aircraft landed Monday in Algiers from Wuhan, China, carrying 60 Algerian, Tunisian, Libyan and Mauritanian nationals, including 36 Algerians settled in the Chinese city.

“In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic to repatriate the members of the Algerian community established in Wuhan, an airplane of the airline company Air Algérie, mobilized for this mission, enabled the evacuation of 31 Algerian citizens, the majority of whom were students in addition to two nationals who were in China as part of a family visit, “said the same source.

“Within the framework of Algeria’s constant attachment to traditions of solidarity with the Maghreb brothers, especially in these difficult times, and at the request of their countries, Algeria carried out, during the same flight, the “evacuation of 10 Tunisian citizens, 3 Libyans and 4 Mauritanians”, added the press release.

According to the MAE, this operation is part of “the realization of the commitments of the President of the Republic in the protection and support of the national community established abroad, by immediately reacting to their concerns, particularly in this area”.

After reiterating “its full solidarity and support for the government of the People’s Republic of China and its friendly people in this ordeal”, Algeria “presented its thanks to the Chinese authorities for their total cooperation and rapid reaction towards the repatriation of members of our community from Wuhan, the statement said.
