Major General Saïd Chanegriha chairs meeting with MDN, ANP staff

ALGIERS – Major General Saïd Chanegriha, Acting Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), presided over a meeting at the headquarters of the ANP on Monday in Algiers with the presence of executives from the Ministry of National Defense and the ANP staff, said a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.

“After his appointment by the President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Major General Saïd Chanegriha, Acting Chief of Staff of the ANP, chaired a meeting of executives from the Ministry of National Defense and the ANP staff, “said the press release.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, the Force Commanders, the Heads of Departments of the MDN and the ANP Staff, the Directors and the Heads of Central Services and the Heads took part in this meeting.

At the start of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed for the soul of the deceased corps general Ahmed Gaïd Salah. The  Major General of the ANP delivered an address in which he stressed “the primordial role that the ANP played alongside the Algerian people in the face of the dangerous plot which aimed at jeopardizing the stability of Algeria and the foundations of the state, and the neutralization of its constitutional institutions to sink it into a swamp of chaos and violence. ”

“However, the High Command of the ANP, which became aware of the scope of this plot, knew how to manage this phase with wisdom and foresight, through the accompaniment and the protection of peaceful marches, without any drop of blood is shed, in addition to the accompaniment of state institutions so as to allow them to accomplish their missions in the best conditions, as well as the determination to remain in constitutional legitimacy and to face anyone trying to undermine national unity, “he said.

For Major-General Chanegriha, “the ANP contributed, alongside the security services, to the success of the organization of free, honest and transparent presidential elections, and to  securing the electoral process in a climate of tranquility and serenity “.
