ALGIERS- Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing Cherif Omari stressed Thursday the importance of digitization in the sector’s modernization process, dubbing it a “paramount necessity,” the ministry said in a statement.
Thus, the implementation of this program, he continued, will make it possible to achieve the main objectives of the sector, this includes the ease of administrative procedures and the possibility of access to information, in particular for decision-makers and the various stakeholders in the sector (farmers, breeders, fishermen, loggers, economic operators, researchers and students, civil society, etc.).
In the presence of all the representatives of administrations and economic establishments under supervision, the meeting was an opportunity to present “Business Applications” including monitoring the prices of agricultural products, monitoring the cereal sector, added the same source. .
The minister also urged officials from administrations and economic establishments active in the agricultural sector to draw inspiration from the experiences of emerging and developed countries, the press release said.
As a reminder, the sector’s digitization program is based on three (03) major projects: the upgrade of the central infrastructure, the development of the information system and the upgrade of the network infrastructure. It spans 3 years (2019-2022).
