Algeria condemns, in strongest terms, terrorist attack on military detachment in Burkina Faso


ALGIERS – Algeria condemned “in the strongest terms” the terrorist attack that targeted a military detachment in northern Burkina Faso on Tuesday, claiming the lives of many people, including civilians.

“We strongly condemn the terrorist attack that targeted, on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, a military detachment of the Burkinabé army as well as civilians in Arbinda, in the north of Burkina Faso, which claimed the lives of many people including civilians, the vast majority of whom are women, “Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdelaziz Benali-Cherif said in a statement to the APS on Thursday.

“We offer our sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and assure our solidarity with the brotherly Burkinabé government and people,” he said.

“We remain convinced that the government and the people of Burkina Faso will remain determined to fight and overcome this scourge,” he added.
