Counterterrorism: Bunker for terrorists destroyed in Djelfa


ALGIERS – A bunker for terrorists containing 5 homemade bombs, was destroyed, Saturday, in the province of Djelfa by a detachment of the National People’s Army (ANP), as part of an ongoing operation, said, Sunday, a statement from the Department of National Defense.

“As part of the fight against terrorism and following the search operation still in progress in the locality of Oued Sayada, commune of Ammoura, province of Djelfa (1st Military Region), a detachment of the ANP discovered and destroyed, on November 16, 2019, one (1) terrorist bunker containing five (5) homemade bombs, six (6) kilograms of explosives, a pair of binoculars, and a quantity of food, clothing and sleeping effects and various objects, ” said  the same source.

As part of the fight against smuggling and organized crime, detachments of the ANP “arrested, in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, nine (9) individuals and seized 2 all-terrain vehicles, 3 generators, 3 jackhammers and 6 bags of stone and crude gold mixture “.

On the other hand, and “in the dynamics of operations aimed at stemming the spread of the scourge of drugs in the country”, Border Guards and Coastguards seized, in Tlemcen  and El-Kala , 80.5 kilograms of treated Hashish “, while elements of the National Gendarmerie” have apprehended three (3) drug traffickers in possession of 14,347 psychotropic tablets, and this, during separate operations conducted in Bechar, El -Tarf and Constantine, “the statement added.
