100 exhibitors at international fishing, aquaculture show in Oran Wednesday

ORAN (Algeria)- One hundred exhibitors, including thirty from foreign countries, are taking part in the 8th International Fishing and Aquaculture  Show (SIPA 2019) to open Wednesday at the Convention Centre of Oran (432-km west of Algiers).

Organized under the slogan “Fishing and aquaculture, engines of sustainable development and the blue economy in Algeria”, this eighth edition will see the participation of 30 foreign operators, coming from 11 countries, including Egypt, invited to honor, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, Libya among others.

Some 70 national operators will take part in this event, including those specializing in fishing equipment, farmed fish feed, fry, floating cages, and shipbuilding.

“The choice of this slogan relates to the special place of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector in the development of the blue economy, because of its importance in the maritime area and its interactions with the sectors related to the sea such as; transport, industry, tourism, water resources, environment and scientific research “, the organizers underlined.

This 8th edition of SIPA has set several objectives, namely; highlight the capacities of the fisheries and aquaculture sector,  enhance the achievements and achievements in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, encourage cooperation and partnerships to diversify fisheries and aquaculture activities.

The exhibition also aims to promote the concept of the blue economy and its role in the national economy, and strengthen the consultative and participatory work between the various actors to preserve and protect marine resources and develop a sustainable aquaculture.
