Algeria – Azzedine Mihoubi, Acting Secretary General of the RND and former Minister of Culture, submitted, today, Wednesday, October 23, his file at the National Independent Electoral Authority (ANIE).
This is the first submitted application for the presidential election. Azzedine Mihoubi declared having, easily, collected the necessary signatures to stand as a candidate in the forthcoming presidential election, due to take place on Dec.12th, 2019.
In a statement to the press after the submission of his file, Azzedine Mihoubi ensured that his file meets all the conditions stipulated by the new electoral law, adding that he held a meeting with Mohamed Charfi, the president of the Electoral Authority, during which the importance of the next presidential rendez-vous was highlighted.
Earlier, the National Independent Authority on Elections (ANIE)’s communication officer Ali Draà announced that seven candidates for candidacy for 12 December presidential election took appointments to submit their files.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Authority’s headquarters, Mr. Draà added that “the first filing of applications will begin this Wednesday from 10:00 am”.
“The president of ANIE, Mohamed Charfi will receive them,” he said.
He also recalled that 147 applicants have withdrawn the subscription forms for individual signatures for the December 12 presidential election, and that the last deadline for submitting applications is Saturday, October 26 at midnight.
