Russia-Africa Summit: Bensalah takes off for Sotchi

ALGIERS- Head of state Abdelkader Bensalah left Tuesday Algiers for Sotchi, Russia, to take part in the first Russia-Africa Summit. 

More than forty (40) Heads of State and Government will take part in the work of this Summit devoted to “the global assessment of relations and the examination of ways and means and prospects of partnership in addition to the activation of the mechanisms of cooperation in the various fields between the African countries and this important partner with whom Algeria maintains historical, solid and strategic relations “, specified the same source.

Two important events will be on the agenda of the Summit, namely; the Economic Forum scheduled for October 23 and the Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held on October 24 and will be sanctioned by the adoption of a final declaration, added the statement.

The Head of State will head an important delegation made up of Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum, Finance Minister Mohamed Loukal and Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab.

The Head of State, will, then, go with the head of Algerian diplomacy, to Bako (capital of Azerbaijan) to participate in the 18th Summit of the Non Aligned Countries under the slogan “Preserving the principles of Bandung to reach consensual and adequate solutions to meet the major global challenges “.

Many issues will be addressed at the 18th Bako Summit, such as: international security and peace, including the Palestinian cause, in addition to counterterrorism, disarmament, immigration, South-South cooperation, climate change and the fight against terrorism, sustainable development, in a sensitive international context where the movement of non-aligned countries aspires to strengthen its ranks and unify its positions on these issues in order to play a more effective role in international fora.

The Head of State will have, during these two summits, a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts of the participating countries, concluded the release of the residence.
