Gaïd Salah hails efforts of Dialogue Panel, calls for presidential election’s holding

The Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, delivered, today, from Oran province, a speech.

The Deputy Minister of National Defense says he supports the path of serious dialogue that will lead to presidential elections as soon as possible, starting with the urgent installation of a body of organization and supervision of elections.

To this end, he welcomes the efforts of the National Forum for Mediation and Dialogue, highlighting that today’s priority consists in “accelerating” the election of a president of the Republic within “constitutionally acceptable deadlines” as these “deadlines  are today nearing limit.

“The holding the presidential election will help avoid the trap of the constitutional vacuum, which would result in risks and deviations with serious consequences. All the Algerian citizens, who are the jealous guardians of the reputation of their country, its interests and place among the community of countries, need to adhere to this crucial approach for the country’s future.”

In addition, Gaid Salah urged the people to maintain a “high level of vigilance” in the face of the threats  to get out of the crisis and prevent it to linger.

It is worth recalling that Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister for National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP) started, Sunday, a working and inspection visit to the province of Oran.

The Army Corps General oversees, on Monday, a missile fire drill against surface targets from the two submarines that have recently increased the capabilities of our naval forces, the statement of the Ministry of National Defense pointed out.
